It’s really good to see awareness campaigns regarding mental health and removing the stigma attached to it. The most recent trending hashtags like ‘its ok not to be ok’ and ‘invisible illness’ gave power to suffers by speaking their truth and not pretending everything is ok. Totally admirable.
The more people who talk about their experiences and breakthroughs can give a glimmer of hope to anyone needing to hear they’re not alone.
Experience has taught me that there’s a lot of people in the world who need some guidance to get back on their feet, just like we do when we need physio after an operation or injury, nutritional coaching for fat loss, or marathon training for runners. There are lots of ways you can rewire how you think and start to increase your vibration and gain good mental health.
If you haven’t already tried meditation to do this, make it your absolute priority for at least 10 minutes per day. If you don’t think you can find 10 minutes each day to meditate, that’s exactly why you should!
What is meditation?
Simply put, meditation is a practice that helps us become more self aware of our thoughts, behaviours, conversations and actions. Meditation helps create stillness in our minds so we can become more creative and productive. It helps us control our emotions rather than reacting to them.
I use meditation each morning to set my intentions for the day. My job requires lots of energy and I need to be in a place mentally where I can project it and use it to support my physical energy. This is what I mean when I say ‘raise your vibration’… What you think you create. My favourite mediation app is Insight Timer as it has a community of teachers and students. There’s is also a free 7 day course into learning how to meditate.
If you can change your mindset by thinking differently and altering your mental energy, you can also change it your mindset by adjusting your physiology. Standing tall with your shoulders back, chest lifted and head raised, instantly releases endorphins that match your poise. This is why yoga is so powerful for the body and mind together. The strong warrior poses create a sense of power and control that are uplifting and fulfilling.
Another action step is journaling. At the end of each day write about your experiences, overcoming fears and how you’ve nailed it today! I like to included what I’m grateful for as this gives me a sense of being and presence.
It’s hard to break a habit especially if you’ve had it for a long time. This is why daily practise of the above techniques need to be done frequently. The mind requires training just like the body does. You wouldn’t train for a marathon by running once or twice, you would take regular exercise and follow a plan. The mind is no different!
Shine your light by raising your vibration and become the person you want to be!
